Lakeside Golf Course has been operated by family members for more than 50 years. The late John and Mary Gura purchased the 9-hole course in 1957. They operated Lakeside for 15 years. John was passionate about golf and spent countless hours teaching his 12 grandchildren how to golf as well as numerous Lakeside customers.

In 1972, one of the Guras’ daughters, Joan Blazek, and her, husband Allen Blazek purchased the course. The Blazeks’ and their four children, Mitch, Michele, Mark and Melisa moved to the course residence and operated the course. The back 9-hole course opened in 1975. Other improvements were made including an expansion of the club house and the addition of an outdoor patio and a new pavilion.

After 35 years, third generation, the Blazeks’ children, assumed the operations of the course in 2007. Mitch Blazek of Lake Milton serves as the golf superintendent. He has numerous years of golf course experience including Windmill Lakes in Ravenna and Mayfair in Akron. Mark Blazek, a Lake Milton resident who is employed in the Grounds Maintenance department at Youngstown State University, assists with maintenance of the course. He also has a wide range of turf experience. Becky Leiter of Lake Milton, the fiancé of Mitch Blazek, is the manager of the club house. Several grandchildren also work and/or play at the course. It’s truly a family atmosphere.
